Your floor plan doesn't need to be formal or fancy. At Laurel & Wolf, we love hand-drawn floor plans! Floor plans are just another way to help our designers visualize your space.
Follow our step by step instructions to create a floor plan like the one above.
- Draw the general shape of the room as if you were looking from a bird's eye view.
- Add in the basics. Measure each wall from corner to corner to give the overall length.
- Add in the details. Go back to each wall to document each door, window, and opening with their measurements. Use a curved line to signify the door swing and double lines for a window as shown above.
- Don't forget to add other important measurements: ceiling height, overall height for each window and door, and other features like columns, fireplaces, stairs, wainscoting, etc.
